Among a whole new generation of ultra modern buildings in Fort Lauderdale, Nu River Landing stands a part as a “great dame of time bygone”. Our objective is to enhance all the aspects of it’s traditional design while introducing new excitement and activities into the space mainly through lighting, furniture and surface treatments almost as a “Broadway production” set design.
New River Landing is already a beautiful and striking space from the moment one steps inside into its palatial lobby. Throughout the building the same feeling carries all the way to the 25th floor and the pool deck with its amazing 360 degrees views of all the surroundings for miles ahead. Needing some upgrade mostly in the area of the amenities and accessories, to keep up with the most recent residential development in the area, our design approach as Architects and Interior Designer has been to keep our work simple and minimal, in order to maintain as much as possible, the original architectural intent. We changed the position of the reception desk in a more central location, we updated the furniture that is showing signs of aging, we added some necessary amenities as the small café and library on the mezzanine, improved the business center, new seating, lighting and counter restoration in the penthouse bar lounge area, and badly needed pool deck furniture and shaded cabanas. We are also suggesting an improved lighting concept to create more dramatic contrast in the existing design elements. Some of our choices intended to stimulate the use of areas that were under used and wasted like the proposed new café and library in the lobby mezzanine. We are also trying to improve the interaction and activities of the general population by creating more comfortable sitting and meeting areas and infuse the general space with the same energy one could find in the common areas of a successful Miami Beach Hotel. We aspire to make people feel comfortable, and yet private if needing so, able to interact, and conduct their affairs under the watchful and helpful presence of a central reception.
Ultimately all of our approach is very mindful of the limitation of the established budget delivered at the beginning of our commission.
